Remittance Risk Disclosure — Australia
Purpose
International money remittance involves financial, operational, fraud, technology and third-party risks. This Risk Disclosure highlights material risks customers should consider before authorising an ARMF transfer. It is not exhaustive and does not replace the Terms and Conditions or any non-excludable rights under Australian law.
Exchange-rate risk
Foreign-exchange markets can move quickly. A quote is valid only for the period shown and may expire before ARMF receives funds or accepts the transaction. If a quote expires, a new exchange rate may apply. Exchange-rate movements can also affect the value of refunds, recalls or returned funds where a further currency conversion is required.
Fees and total-price risk
The total cost of a remittance may include an ARMF fee and/or an exchange-rate margin or spread reflected in the quoted rate. Banks, correspondent institutions, payment networks or recipient institutions may impose separate charges outside ARMF's control. Customers should review the quoted exchange rate, ARMF charges, total amount payable and expected recipient amount before confirming a transfer.
Processing and delivery risk
Displayed delivery times are estimates unless ARMF expressly states otherwise. Processing may be delayed by verification or compliance reviews, banking cut-off times, public holidays, destination-country requirements, recipient institutions, correspondent banks, payment networks, liquidity, technical incidents or other circumstances outside ARMF's reasonable control.
Recipient and irreversibility risk
You are responsible for checking recipient and destination details before confirming a transfer. Once an irrevocable payment instruction has been sent or funds have been credited or paid out, cancellation or recovery may be impossible. ARMF may try to assist with a recall or recovery but cannot guarantee success.
Fraud and scam risk
Remittance customers may be targeted by romance, investment, invoice, impersonation, AI/deepfake, malware, remote-access, technical-support, customer-support, phishing, purchase, advance-fee and other scams. A scammer may persuade you to authorise the payment yourself. You should independently verify recipients and payment purposes and follow ARMF warnings. See the Fraud, Scam & Authorised Payment Reimbursement Policy - Australia.
Cybersecurity and device risk
No internet-connected service can be guaranteed to be completely secure or continuously available. Malware, compromised email accounts, stolen credentials, SIM-swap attacks, insecure devices, phishing and other cyber incidents may affect customers or third parties. You must protect your devices, credentials and authentication information and promptly report suspected compromise.
AML/CTF, sanctions and regulatory risk
ARMF may be required or permitted to request information, delay, block, reject, return, restrict or report a transaction because of AML/CTF, sanctions, fraud-prevention, customer-due-diligence, law-enforcement, regulatory or banking-partner requirements. In some circumstances ARMF may be legally prohibited from explaining the reason for a compliance action.
Third-party and infrastructure risk
International remittances rely on banks, correspondent institutions, payment processors, payment networks, telecommunications providers, technology providers and recipient institutions. Their outages, restrictions, insolvency, operational failures or legal requirements may affect timing, availability, recoverability or the amount delivered. ARMF does not control independent third parties, subject to any responsibility imposed on ARMF by law.
Force majeure risk
Natural disasters, war, terrorism, civil disturbance, government action, sanctions, widespread infrastructure outages, industrial disputes, severe weather, epidemics, third-party cyber incidents and other events beyond ARMF's reasonable control may delay or prevent a transfer. The Force Majeure provisions in the Limitation of Liability section explain how these events are treated.
No deposit, investment or guaranteed outcome
Money provided to ARMF for a remittance is provided for execution of that transfer and is not a deposit or investment with ARMF. ARMF does not guarantee a particular investment, commercial, tax or financial outcome and does not provide personalised financial, investment, tax or legal advice through general website or support information.
Customer acknowledgement
By confirming a transfer, you acknowledge that you have reviewed the transaction information presented to you and accept the ordinary risks inherent in international remittance. This acknowledgement is not a waiver of any statutory right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.
