Customer Fairness & Consumer Protection Statement
ARMF principles for clear information, fair treatment, support and good customer outcomes in Australia.
Purpose
This Statement explains the customer-treatment principles ARMF applies to its Australian remittance service. It complements - and does not replace - rights and obligations arising under applicable Australian law, our customer Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy and Complaints Policy.
Clear and understandable information
We aim to communicate in plain language and give customers information at the point it is useful. In particular, before a customer confirms a transfer, ARMF aims to display the material transaction information available to us, including the amount sent, relevant currencies, exchange rate, ARMF fee, total amount payable and expected amount to be delivered to the recipient.
We avoid designing important legal or pricing information so that it is hidden, unnecessarily difficult to understand or inconsistent with the customer journey.
Fair value and transparent pricing
ARMF seeks to price services transparently. Depending on the transaction, ARMF may earn revenue from a disclosed transfer/service fee, an exchange-rate margin or spread reflected in the quoted retail exchange rate, or another ARMF charge clearly disclosed before confirmation. The customer should be shown the material price information available to ARMF before authorising the transfer. See "How ARMF Prices Its Remittance Service - Australia" for further detail.
Third-party banks, payment networks or recipient institutions may charge amounts outside ARMF's control. Where such charges are known or reasonably foreseeable, ARMF aims to explain them clearly.
Products and services appropriate to the customer journey
ARMF provides only services that are available to the relevant customer type and jurisdiction. Marketing content should not create the impression that a customer can acquire a product that ARMF is not legally or operationally able to provide in Australia.
We may apply eligibility, transaction-limit, identity-verification and risk requirements that differ between customers. These controls are intended to support lawful and secure service delivery and should be applied consistently with our regulatory obligations and risk framework.
Support that meets customer needs
We aim to provide accessible channels for customers to ask questions, report suspected fraud, obtain transaction support and make complaints. We recognise that some customers may require additional assistance because of language, disability, financial difficulty, vulnerability, scams, bereavement or other circumstances.
Where reasonably practicable, we will consider appropriate adjustments to the way we communicate or provide support, while still complying with security, privacy and AML/CTF requirements.
Scam and fraud awareness
International transfers can be targeted by scams including romance, investment, invoice, impersonation/AI-deepfake, purchase, advance-fee, phishing, remote-access/malware and technical- or customer-support scams. ARMF may warn, delay or refuse suspicious transactions, but no control can identify every scam.
Customers should independently verify recipients, payment requests and changed beneficiary details and heed ARMF warnings. If a customer knowingly proceeds after a clear warning and reasonable opportunity to reconsider, that conduct may affect responsibility or reimbursement to the extent permitted by law. Suspected scams or account compromise should be reported immediately; see the "Fraud, Scam & Authorised Payment Reimbursement Policy - Australia".
Responsible communications and marketing
ARMF aims for advertising and marketing communications to be accurate, balanced and not misleading. Material claims about speed, price, exchange rates, savings, product availability, security or regulatory status should be substantiated and qualified where necessary. Fine print should not be used to correct an otherwise misleading overall impression.
Privacy and data minimisation
We collect and use personal information for legitimate service, security, legal and regulatory purposes as described in our Privacy Policy. We aim to collect only information reasonably necessary for our functions and obligations and to protect customer information through appropriate technical and organisational controls.
Fair account and transaction controls
ARMF may need to place holds, request more information, reduce limits, reject transfers or restrict accounts for AML/CTF, sanctions, fraud, security, legal, operational or banking-partner reasons.
Where the law permits us to explain a decision, we aim to provide useful information about what the customer needs to do next. In some circumstances, legal restrictions may prevent us from disclosing the reason for a compliance action or report.
Complaints and learning from outcomes
Customers can make a complaint without charge. ARMF aims to investigate complaints fairly and use complaint themes, root-cause analysis and customer feedback to improve products, communications, controls and support processes.
Our Complaints Policy explains how to complain. Customers can contact complaints@armf.com.
Australian consumer rights
Nothing in this Statement or ARMF's customer contracts is intended to exclude, restrict or modify rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted, including rights that may arise under the Australian Consumer Law. ARMF periodically reviews standard-form terms and communications to reduce the risk of unfair, unclear or misleading provisions and to present material limitations transparently.
Governance and review
ARMF management is responsible for embedding these principles into product design, marketing, operations, compliance, customer support and complaints handling. Material customer-outcome issues should be escalated and remediated under ARMF's governance and risk framework. This Statement is reviewed periodically and when services or applicable consumer-protection obligations materially change. Questions may be sent to support@armf.com.
Limitation of Liability, Liability Cap and Force Majeure
Version 1.1 | Effective: 1 September 2026 | Last updated: 30 August 2026
Non-excludable rights
Nothing in this section excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, statutory right, remedy or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified under applicable Australian law. This includes applicable protections under the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act 2001 (Cth), the Australian Consumer Law where it applies, and any other mandatory Australian law (Non-Excludable Rights). If a provision of this section would otherwise conflict with a Non-Excludable Right, that provision operates only to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Meaning of Service Revenue
For this section, Service Revenue means the total fees, charges and any foreign-exchange margin or spread actually earned and retained by ARMF from remittance services provided to you. Service Revenue does not include the principal amount you instruct ARMF to transfer, taxes or government charges, amounts refunded to you, or fees and charges retained by banks, correspondent institutions, payment networks or other third parties.
Aggregate liability cap
Subject to the Non-Excludable Rights and the carve-outs below, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, ARMF's total cumulative monetary liability to you arising out of or in connection with the Services, the Website, the Platforms, a transaction or these Terms will not exceed the Service Revenue actually earned and retained by ARMF from you from the commencement of your relationship with ARMF up to the date of the event giving rise to the first relevant claim.
This is a single aggregate cap. Subject to applicable law, it applies in all circumstances and collectively to any one incident, any series of related incidents, multiple unrelated incidents and all incidents, claims, losses and causes of action combined. The cap is not renewed, multiplied or reset for each transaction, event, claimant, legal theory or claim.
The cap applies, to the extent permitted by law, whether a claim is framed in contract, tort (including negligence), statute, equity, restitution, misrepresentation or otherwise. It does not apply to ARMF's fraud or wilful misconduct, or to any liability that applicable law requires to remain uncapped or otherwise prevents ARMF from limiting.
Matters outside ARMF's responsibility
Subject to the Non-Excludable Rights and to the maximum extent permitted by law, ARMF is not responsible for any loss, delay, failure or additional cost to the extent it is caused or contributed to by:
- incorrect, incomplete, fraudulent or misleading information supplied by you or a person acting for you;
- incorrect recipient, bank-account, mobile-wallet or other payment details supplied or approved by you;
- your breach of these Terms or failure to take reasonable steps to protect your account, credentials, devices, authentication information or communications;
- a transfer you authorised, including a transfer made because you were deceived by a scammer, except to the extent ARMF is legally responsible for the loss;
- your decision to proceed with an authorised transfer after ARMF gave a clear scam, recipient or transaction warning and a reasonable opportunity to stop or independently verify the payment;
- the lawful exercise by ARMF of AML/CTF, sanctions, fraud-prevention, security, regulatory, legal or risk-management obligations;
- acts, omissions, delays, restrictions or failures of a recipient, recipient bank, correspondent bank, payment processor, payment network, telecommunications provider, internet provider or another independent third party outside ARMF's reasonable control;
- exchange-rate movements occurring after a transaction, cancellation, refund, recall or recovery request where ARMF has acted in accordance with the applicable terms;
- an interruption, outage, cyber incident or failure of systems or infrastructure outside ARMF's reasonable control; or
- a Force Majeure Event as described below.
Force Majeure
A Force Majeure Event means an event or circumstance beyond ARMF's reasonable control that prevents, materially delays or materially disrupts performance. Depending on the circumstances, this may include natural disasters, flood, fire, earthquake, severe weather, epidemic or pandemic, war, terrorism, civil disturbance, riot, governmental or regulatory action, sanctions or legal restrictions, industrial disputes, widespread power, internet or telecommunications failure, failure or disruption of banking or payment networks, material outage or failure of a third-party data-centre, cloud, technology or communications provider, or a cyberattack or other security incident affecting an independent third party.
To the extent ARMF's performance is prevented, delayed or disrupted by a Force Majeure Event, ARMF's affected obligations will be suspended for the duration and extent of the event, and ARMF will not be liable for the resulting delay, non-performance, failure or loss to the extent permitted by law. ARMF will take reasonable steps appropriate in the circumstances to mitigate material effects and resume affected services when reasonably practicable.
A Force Majeure Event does not extinguish obligations that accrued before the event, does not permit ARMF to retain money that must legally be returned, and does not require a customer to waive any Non-Excludable Right, complaint right, external-dispute-resolution right or right of access to a court or tribunal that cannot lawfully be restricted.
Indirect and consequential loss
To the maximum extent permitted by law and subject to the Non-Excludable Rights, ARMF is not liable for indirect, consequential, special, exemplary or punitive loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, business opportunity, goodwill or reputation, where that loss is not a direct and reasonably foreseeable result of ARMF's breach of an obligation owed to you.
Mitigation and contributory conduct
You must take reasonable steps to avoid or reduce loss once you become aware of a problem. ARMF's responsibility for any loss will be reduced to the extent your acts or omissions, or the acts or omissions of another person for whom ARMF is not responsible, caused or contributed to the loss.
No blanket waiver of legal rights
This section allocates contractual risk but does not require you to discharge or waive every right to sue ARMF. You may make a complaint, use any applicable external dispute-resolution process, contact a regulator or law-enforcement authority, and commence proceedings in a court or tribunal where Australian law gives you that right. Any contractual exclusion, release or cap operates only to the extent Australian law permits.
Severability and lawful operation
If any exclusion, cap or other provision in this section is found to be void, unfair or unenforceable, it will be read down or severed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue to operate where lawful. ARMF does not seek to rely on this section in a way that would itself contravene applicable unfair-contract-term or other consumer-protection law.
Warranties, Representations and Service Guarantees
Statutory guarantees preserved
Nothing in this section excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, statutory right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified under applicable Australian law, including the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act 2001 (Cth), the Australian Consumer Law where it applies, or other mandatory legislation.
Service availability
ARMF will use reasonable care and skill in providing its services. However, subject to the statutory guarantees and Non-Excludable Rights described above, and except where ARMF expressly agrees otherwise, ARMF does not warrant or guarantee that:
- the ARMF website, application, account or transfer functionality will always be available, uninterrupted, secure or error-free;
- every country, currency, payment method, recipient type or transfer corridor displayed by ARMF will always be available to you;
- a transaction will be completed within an estimated or displayed processing or delivery time;
- a quoted exchange rate will remain available after the period for which that rate is offered;
- a bank, payment partner, payment processor, correspondent institution or recipient institution will process a transaction within a particular period;
- funds can be successfully recalled or recovered after an irreversible payment instruction has been sent or where incorrect recipient details have been provided;
- electronic communications, websites, applications or internet-based systems will be completely free from interruption, security risks, viruses or other technical issues; or
- general information appearing on ARMF's website, application, help centre or other communication channels will at all times be complete, current or suitable for your individual circumstances.
Third-party services
ARMF may rely on banks, payment processors, correspondent institutions, telecommunications providers, identity-verification providers and other third-party service providers to deliver parts of the service.
ARMF does not control those independent providers and does not guarantee their continuous availability or performance. This does not affect any responsibility ARMF may have under applicable law for the selection, instruction or use of those providers.
No particular financial outcome
ARMF provides payment and international remittance services. Unless expressly agreed otherwise, ARMF does not warrant that use of its services will achieve any particular financial, commercial, investment, taxation or other outcome.
Exchange rates and foreign-currency values may change, and past or indicative exchange rates are not a guarantee of future rates.
Customer Indemnity and Responsibility for Misuse
Your responsibility
To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for reasonable and directly incurred losses, liabilities, claims, costs or expenses suffered by ARMF to the extent they arise from:
- your fraudulent or unlawful use of the ARMF services;
- your deliberate or material breach of these Terms;
- information or documents that you knowingly provide to ARMF that are false, fraudulent or materially misleading;
- your unauthorised use of another person's identity, account, payment method or funds;
- your use of ARMF to facilitate money laundering, terrorism financing, proliferation financing, fraud, scams, sanctions evasion or other unlawful activity; or
- a third-party claim directly resulting from conduct described above.
Where applicable, you indemnify ARMF against those reasonable and directly incurred losses, liabilities, claims, costs and expenses.
Limits on the indemnity
The indemnity described above does not apply:
- to the extent a loss, liability, claim, cost or expense was caused or contributed to by ARMF's fraud, negligence, wilful misconduct or breach of applicable law;
- to any amount that ARMF could reasonably have avoided or reduced by taking reasonable steps;
- to any liability that cannot lawfully be transferred to you; or
- where applying the indemnity would constitute an unfair contract term or otherwise be prohibited by law.
Claims involving third parties
Where reasonably practicable, ARMF will notify you of a material third-party claim for which it seeks to rely on this indemnity and will take reasonable steps to mitigate the relevant loss.
Nothing in this section limits any non-excludable right or remedy available to you under Australian law.
